INTRODUCCIÓN
Musicalmente, estos cantos suelen apoyarse en patrones rítmicos marcados por el propio cuerpo: palmas, golpes sobre la mesa, el sonido seco de la masa al caer.
No necesitan instrumentos, porque el instrumento es el gesto. Y el gesto, cuando se repite con intención, se convierte en música.
En Canarias, como en tantas otras culturas, los cantos de trabajo forman parte de un patrimonio invisible. No siempre escrito, no siempre documentado, pero profundamente arraigado en la memoria colectiva. Son saberes que se transmiten de oído, de mirada, de cuerpo a cuerpo.
Hoy, cuando estos cantos suben al escenario o se integran en propuestas contemporáneas, no lo hacen como piezas de museo, sino como latidos que siguen vivos. Se transforman, dialogan, se expanden. Pero conservan algo esencial: esa verdad primera de haber nacido de la necesidad, del encuentro y del hacer compartido.
